September- RESPONSIBILITY

September- The character word this month is Responsibility.

During guidance for the month of September, we talked about Responsibility. We talked about what responsibility looks like in the classroom, home and throughout our everyday lives.

In 2nd grade we read the story The Paperboy. We discussed how the paperboy displayed the characteristic of being responsibility during his job. We also talked about ways the the school counselor can help the students throughout the day and during the school year.

In grades 3-6, we watched a video of being responsible over the internet and on the computer. Throughout the video we stopped and discussed ages of being on social media, what cyber bullying was and how the counselor or an adult at school can help can help, but mostly importantly how parents can help keep students safe on the internet.  We also did a short worksheet together on safety on the internet. We finished the lesson off with a getting to know you worksheet, so that the counselor was able to get to know one fun fact about each student. Please take a little time to talk with your child about being responsible on the internet and how we are trying to protect them. Talk with your child about how being a responsible citizen can make them a well rounded student.
