Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year!


The school counselor provides basic counseling for children and their families as needed on an individual basis. This service is designed to help to assist students in gaining self-understanding as a basis for setting life goals which are inline with their abilities, interest and aptitude. We have available a list of outside agencies also available should the need for outside counseling arise. In the instance a need for a crisis counselor arise one is available to assist students and families.   


The DeSoto School District follows the Missouri Comprehensive Model Guidance Program. The Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program helps student to develop in the areas of: Academic Development, Career Development, Personal and Social Development. At Vineland we incorporate the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance  Program through lesson plans that are taught on a monthly basis. The guidance lessons include videos, lessons, activity sheets, class discussions. Please click on the character word of the month to see monthly lessons that are taught. The students are taught how to settle conflict resolution in the classroom on their own. If students are not able to resolve their conflict on their own then students are encouraged to set up a meeting with the counselor to resolve through Peer Mediation.
